The Mexican Society for Marine Mammalogy (SOMEMMA), created in 1979, is a nongovernmental organization whose goals are to:

  • Promote, coordinate and stimulate research, conservation and education related to marine mammals.
  • Inform members and the wider public about the latest research related to marine mammals.
  • Contribute information on marine mammal conservation and management that can be of use to public and private organizations.
